Essential: 1st Class Degree (04 years) in Engineering in any stream from a recognized university/institution or 1st Class Degree in B. Sc. Nautical Science from a recognized university.

Desirable:
a) Masters Degree/Post Graduate Degree/Diploma (2 years full time regular course) in any discipline will be preferable.
b) Familiarity with use of computer applications and modules

Experience : 
Essential: Minimum two (02) years operational experience of supervisory cadre in an industrial/commercial/Government undertaking is desirable.
Desirable: Two (02) or more years’ experience in Shipping and/or Railway operations is desirable.

Essential: (i) Possesses a recognized Degree in any branch of Engineering / Technology with practical experience of working in a Port or similar place in a supervisory capacity for a period of not less than 2 years / Possesses a recognized Degree in Physics or Chemistry with practical experience of working in a Port or similar place in a supervisory capacity for a period of not less than 5 years / Possesses a recognized Diploma in any branch of Engineering or Technology with a practical experience of working in a port or similar place in a supervisory capacity for a period of not less than 5 years, and,
(ii) Possesses a Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by the Central Govt., and
(iii) Has adequate knowledge of the language spoken by majority of the workers in the port in which he is to be appointed.
OR
(i) Possesses a recognized Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Technology and has had experience of not less than 5 years in a department of Central Govt. which deals with the administration of Indian Dock Laborers’ Act, 1934 & the Dock Workers' (Safety, Health & Welfare) Act, 1986
(ii) Possesses a recognized Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Technology and has had experience of not less than 5 years, full time, on training, education, consultancy or research in the field of accident prevention in Industry or in any Port or any Institution
Desirable:- (i) Familiarity with the use of basic computer applications and modules.
